This week we have really started our run-up to SATs. Class Mellor pupils have been working hard on their reading and Class Donaldson have been digesting the results of last week's 'mock-SATs' ready for the real thing. Its nice to hear that the pupils have enjoyed this experience and do not feel too pressured. We have told them that we want them to have every opportunity to show themselves at their best, but no more. As you will know by now, Mrs Baxter has announced that she will be moving to a new academy after half term and Mrs Smith will be taking over as head teacher for the foreseeable future.
Next week we, of course, start the week on Tuesday and Team Leeds will be visiting The Butterfly House in Leeds on that day in line with their current topic on nocturnal animals. Next Thursday is another one of our showcase sessions which will run as before - Team Leeds classrooms will be open from 09:30 until 10:30 and Teams Oxford and Bristol will have their classrooms open from 14:00. If you are visiting in the afternoon then you can take your children home before the usual end of the academy day provided that staff are aware of this.
During our showcase events we will also be launching use of the app MarvellousMe. Some of you will already have used this as we have trialled it in one or two classes. We are really excited about its use. You can find out more by going to their website. If you can download the app before you come into the academy on Thursday then we can give you the secure code that will allow you to have access to information about your child and we will begin sending you updates immediately. Have a look at http://www.marvellousme.com/parents to find out more.
