We will get a full newsletter out to you by the end of next week but in the meantime, here are our news highlights:
DIARY DATES
Parents evening on Wednesday 21st January (apologies if the letter said 20th!), we look forward to seeing you. There will be a meeting on that same evening for parents of Class Donaldson pupils going to Kingswood.
Humanutopia (check out their website for more details) will be spending a full day in the academy on 29th January, working with Team Bristol pupils and dealing with issues around bullying and friendship.
OPPORTUNITIES NOT TO BE MISSED
We have a few spaces for pupils who wish to learn to play a brass musical instrument. Please ask your child to speak with Mrs Baxter initially. Due to the size and weight of the instrument this is an opportunity for Class Pinsent and above.
The academy choir will be starting rehearsals next week for their performance in Sheffield on 16th March. Further details will be sent out to choir parents soon.
SCHOOL MEALS SERVICE WINS AWARD
We are really pleased to hear that the Barnsley school meals service has recently won a bronze catering mark. This means that they have met stringent standards including that at least 75% of all meals are made from unprocessed and fresh ingredients.
BREAKFAST CLUB
Just a reminder that our breakfast club is open to all families and is entirely free. Pupils from Class Pinsent upwards may attend without an adult. We will shortly be introducing a new breakfast reading scheme so that pupils can learn while they eat.
A BIG THANK YOU
To all parents/carers for providing black pumps for pupils to wear in the academy. It is making a big difference to the cleanliness of the building as well as the children all being much quieter!
A big thank you and goodbye to Mr Steve Perks who is leaving us today after serving as Class Bruce TA since September. He will be sadly missed and we wish him luck in his new position. Mr Perks will be replaced by Ms C Hill (who has already been working as a volunteer with this class) on a temporary basis until a permanent recruitment is made.
Also a big thank you from Father Matt who has contacted the academy to let us know that the total amount of money raised via the local church over the Xmas period was £469.10 This will all go to The Children's Society.
