A very busy Xmas week in the academy - we hope that you enjoyed all our showcase events. You all have children to be proud of! If you need a reminder of the events taking place next week then please have a look at the calendar on the home page of this website or download last week's newsletter where there are full details. Some other information for you before we reach the end of term:Mini-academy news - end of term for Mini Academy Friday 19th December 2014, first day back Tuesday 6th January 2015. We are having an Xmas party day in the mini academy on Wed 17th Dec. Can we also take this opportunity to remind you to ensure that the children have warm clothing to play outside during these colder months. The Children's Centre - will be open until 4pm on Tuesday 23rd December 2014 (incorporating breakfast club) and will then close until 8am on Tuesday 6th January 2015. Telephone support will be available between the 29th December and the 2nd January by calling or texting 07918 846343. Job Club will be returning in the New Year. If you are looking for work, want to refresh your CV or simply want to practice your interview skills then this is the club for you. Open to all parents of Meadstead Children's Centre and Primary Academy. Please speak to Charlotte at the CC reception for more information.
Maths Whizz Xmas adventure - for all our scholars in the main academy, you are invited to take part in the Maths Whizz winter adventure. This is available on the Maths Whizz website between 15th December and 6th January. For further information on the adventure, click here.
Academy clubs - clubs will continue to run as normal next week except for the final two days of term (ie last day for academy clubs is Wed 17th December). Clubs will start again in the second week of the new spring term (from Monday 12th January 2015). Please note that the Thursday scholars club will now be by invitation only (so that we can target places at those pupils who most need additional support). There will also be a number of additional Class Donaldson (Y6) booster sessions after the end of the academy day to help prepare pupils for SATs.
Musical opportunities - we will be expanding the number of places within the Academy Choir from next term from the current 12 to 25. This will run on a Wednesday after school. There are also some spaces for additional musical instrument tuition. If you are interested in this please let Mrs Dalby in our reception know. We will also mention both of these in our assembly on the last week of term.
Black pumps indoors - as from January we would like to introduce the idea into the academy of pupils changing into black pumps and wearing these inside during the academy day. This minimises the amount of dirt that is brought into the academy when it is wet and muddy outside, thus making it a nicer environment for our pupils. We would be very grateful if you could please provide a pair of black pumps for your child to wear with their name inside.
Reports and parents evening - we are hoping to have end of term reports out on the last day of term, ie next Friday. This will be followed up with a parents' evening which will take place on Wednesday 21st January from 15:30 to 17:30. Further information and booking of a 'slot' will be made available in the new year.
