All parents from FS2 upwards should have received their first report of the year giving some details on your child's progress and whether we feel that any additional intervention is required. This is the first time that we have attempted to produce a report in this format so we hope that you will find it useful and welcome your feedback.
During half term week please note that the Breakfast club will continue to run and can be accessed via the Children's Centre from 08:15 until 08:45 each week day. The whole family is welcome. It is great to see so many people attending the Breakfast Club but please bear with us if this causes any queues. We are really keen for any volunteers to help us run the club, particularly dads. This could link nicely with another opportunity currently being offered by the academy, which is access to free English and maths courses which will lead to a level 2 qualification (a GCSE equivalent). These are open to anyone over the age of 19 who is in employment or volunteers over 8 hours per week (volunteering for the Breakfast Club would qualify).
We would heartily recommend that all our pupils continue to access Maths Whizz and Lexia during the holidays to ensure that they don't forget what they have been learning this term and because they will find it fun. If anyone does not have access to these at home you can come into the Children's Centre and access a computer from there for this purpose. You will only be able to use the computer in the Children's Centre but you could combine this with a visit to the Breakfast Club. Please phone the centre first to book.
Finally, the Children's Centre will be holding Phonics Fun workshops on Monday 10th November. with the first workshop from 9.15-11.15am and the second from 1-3pm. These workshops are to engage parents onto a 5 week ‘Playing with Language’ course, starting Monday 17th November until 15th December. The course is aimed at parents of children 0-7. Please confirm you attendance if you want to join us and also let us know if you require childcare.
