Keeping your child safe
Meadstead Primary Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children, young people and staff. We expect all of our staff and visitors to share this commitment.
We have a legal duty to care for all the children that attend the academy and will always refer to Social Services and our partner agencies if we are concerned about the well being or welfare of any child.
If you have any concerns that a child is being harmed, at risk of harm or receive a disclosure (intentionally or unintentionally) then you must inform the Jackie Guest (DSL), Head of School Helena Lockwood (DSL) or in their absence a member of the DSL team.
All of the academy staff and governors have been trained and follow the Barnsley Area Children Protection Procedures and the Academies Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy is made available to all staff, volunteers and governors.
Everyone is Equal
Meadstead Primary Academy is committed to treating all members of our community equally. The academy follows the Equality Policy and objectives of the Academies Enterprise Trust which is evident in the day to day practice in the academy and integrated into all other policies. We have a zero tolerance policy towards racism and all incidents will be investigated and the academy policy followed.
Bullying
Meadstead Primary Academy is committed to preventing bullying in any form and has policies in place help children understand the impact and effects of bullying. Bullying of any form is unacceptable at our academy and any allegation of bullying will be investigated fully by our staff.
If an incident of bullying occurs parents are informed on the same day and appropriate support and sanctions are explained and administered.

Online Safety
Meadstead Primary Academy has a dedicated E-Safety Officer and our network of computers and mobile devices is protected by several measures to ensure that your child has a safe environment in which they can learn. Children are taught skills in their Computing lessons that promote data security and E-Safety awareness, we focus on making children aware of who they can talk to and how they can deal with cyber bullying as part of their PSHE and Computing curriculums.

The Underwear Rule (PANTS)
Teach your child the NSPCC Underwear Rule and help protect them from abuse. It's a simple way that parents can help keep children safe from sexual abuse – without using scary words or even mentioning sex.
