Breakfast survey - Y2 and Y6 scholars only

Post date: Sep 9, 2014 9:43:41 AM

The academy has been lucky enough to be selected for funding for a new breakfast club for scholars and their families as part of a research project.  In order to qualify to take part and receive this funding we are required to do a survey of our year two and six classes.  A letter will be going home to parents on Tuesday 9th September to let them know about this and tell them what they need to do if they do not wish their child to take part in this survey.  A copy of the content of the letter is set out below.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Your child’s school is participating in the Magic Breakfast project. Your school will have a universal free breakfast club from September 2014. This project will be the first major study in England about the impact of the provision of a universal free breakfast club on pupils’ behaviour, concentration, and academic attainment in school.  This project is funded by the Department for Education and the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF), whose aim is to find out what works best to raise the attainment of pupils in England.  To help this research, your child will be asked to complete a short survey about what they had for breakfast one day in September 2014 and one day in June 2015.  Named data will be matched with the National Pupil Database and shared with Magic Breakfast, the evaluator (Institute for Fiscal Studies), the EEF data archive, and UK Data Archive for research purposes.  We will not use your child’s name or the name of the school in any report arising from the research.

If you prefer for your child NOT to be part of this research, please inform the evaluation team: mb_evaluation@ifs.org.uk. If you would like more information, please contact mb_evaluation@ifs.org.uk.
